# D&D TABLE GUIDELINES & PLAYER AGREEMENT This document serves as both your player guidelines and table contract. The **Guidelines** section outlines what to follow during gameplay, while the **Agreement** section covers table rules and conduct that you formally agree to maintain. ## PART 1: GAMEPLAY GUIDELINES ### Character Roleplay - Describe your character's actions, thoughts, and feelings. - Speak in-character unless specified otherwise. - Remember: NPCs can hear your discussions, including combat plans. - Your character doesn't know what you as a player know. ### The Living World - The world evolves whether you're present or not. - Your choices (and non-choices) have consequences. - Time-sensitive opportunities may be missed. - NPCs and factions have their own agendas. ### Character Death - Character death is permanent unless resurrection is available. - Be prepared to create a new character if needed. - The DM won't adjust deadly scenarios to prevent death. ## PART 2: TABLE AGREEMENT ### I, the undersigned player, agree to: #### Attendance & Communication - Arrive on time to sessions. - Give **24-hour notice** if unable to attend (*emergencies excepted*). #### Table Conduct - Come prepared with character sheet and dice. - Read the *Players Handbook (2024)* as it pertains to my character. - Know and understand the house rules. - Stay engaged and take notes as needed. - Avoid distractions during play. #### Content Boundaries - **No explicit sexual content** (*implied romance is acceptable*). - Violence, gore, combat brutality, and swearing are part of the game. - **No real-world harassment or hate speech** between players. - In-game cultural conflicts, prejudices, and political tensions may exist as part of the story. #### Out-of-Game Knowledge ("Metagaming") - Don't look up campaign information outside of sessions. - Don't use your personal knowledge that your character hasn't learned in-game. - Tell the DM if you've played this campaign before. - Act on what your character knows, not what you know. #### Conflict Resolution - If you disagree with a ruling, briefly state your case. - The DM's word is final during the session. - Major concerns can be discussed between sessions. - Repeated disruption of play will result in removal from the game. ### Acknowledgment I understand that: - My position at the table is **at-will**. - Repeated misconduct may result in removal. - This document serves as both **guidelines and contract**.
